Superstar pastry chef Monica Glass of Fish was accosted last night in her home in Bella Vista after a shift at the restaurant. This morning, Glass tweeted a description of the assailant, and discussed the harrowing experience in detail:
"Tonight while entering my apt with headphones on, I was assaulted, punched in the face & knocked (back down) on the floor. The dude was light skinned African American with scruffy face, muscular build and a light colored ski cap. Having no clue what to do & scared shitless with him standing over me on the floor, I kicked and kicked and kicked and screamed and kicked more until he ran away, managing to steal my roommate's bag from the couch."
Glass, who is a friend of Eater, texted us that she was ok, but that "people, especially ladies in this neighborhood need to be careful. I'm scared about what could have happened. Thank everyone for their kind words and happy thoughts. I'm ok, and I will see everyone at the restaurant."
This is the second attack in the Queen Village neighborhood in the last few months, as a barista at The Bean Exchange was raped last April. Our thoughts are with Glass, and of course, if any of our readers have any information, please contact the authorities. Philly, you're really disappointing the shit out of us right now. [EaterWire]
