Sexy chef Jason Cichonski's popular Queen Village spot Ela is launching brunch service this Sunday from 10:30 a.m. until 2:30 p.m. Cichonski spent many years making a name for himself by whipping up the legendary brunch at Lacroix, and now he's getting the chance to bring that cuisine to Ela.
Cichonski's brunch menu includes biscuits and bone marrow, short ribs Benedict, and a burger with shitake mushroom jam and aged cheddar on a black sesame bun. He's also doing up some re-imagined classics like French toast, ginger snap pancakes, and the amazing-sounding coffee-smoked bacon, which is made in-house.
Of course, brunch in Philly isn't brunch without booze, and Ela is getting on the Bloody Mary train with three signature versions: truffled, kim chi, and roasted beet. If liquid veggies aren't your thing, go with the spiked Vietnamese iced coffee.
Looks like Cichonski is working on carving out another classic brunch spot for a Philly crowd that just can't get enough eggs and drinking in the morning.
