Chef Shola Olunloyo of Studiokitchen fame is joining Jason Cichonski at Ela to present a modern Japanese collaboration dinner on Tuesday, October 23. Both chefs are proponents of the modernist movement and often use Japanese ingredients in their cooking style. So, to celebrate the best of both worlds, the chefs are mashing up traditional Japanese dishes with the sophisticated techniques of today for a special event.
"Jason and I use a lot of Japanese ingredients on a regular basis. It just made sense to use that as sole focus," Olunloyo told Eater. "We are not doing stereotypical Soy-Ginger-Wasabi pan-asian nonsense, but more the plants, the seeds, the fish, and meat woven together with premium accents that truly speak to Japan."
The dinner will feature five courses and costs $75 per person. There will be an optional beverage pairing that includes sake, shochu and yuzu shu. Reservations are suggested, and can be made by calling 267-687-8512.
