The owners of Copabanana managed to quietly open up their high-end whiskey joint Redwood on South Street last night. Owner Bill Curry (who also ran the legendary South Street eatery NOLA) is attempting to bring back an upscale bistro vibe with the 60-seat Redwood, which features a massive 24-wine Cruvinet system, 8 craft beer taps (and a gravity pull, too), and serious selection of brown liquors. Redwood is open from 4 p.m. until 2 a.m. every day.
Curry has teamed up with his nephew Daniel Christensen to open the place along with manager Joe Cucolo, chef Rand Maltese, and Joseph Compton, who is managing the bar. The menu is limited for now with charcuterie and cheese offerings, small plates, and a few entrees.
