Last week, Joe Cicala tweeted that part of his epic culinary trip through Italy was to do research for a new restaurant he was opening back home. After almost a week of guessing what it would possibly be, news broke that they're working on an enoteca, featuring Southern Italian wines by the glass and craft beers. The enoteca will focus on the cuisine of Campania, which Cicala had plenty of experience with before taking the reins at Le Virtu, which features the tastes of Abruzzo.
There's no word yet on where they'll be opening up shop, but apparently they're looking for a space that doesn't require too much renovation and overhaul, and already has plenty of foot traffic. Sounds like they'll be opening the new place right up the street from Le Virtu on East Passyunk. Stay tuned.
