Superstar casino developer Steve Wynn has thrown his hat into the ring to compete for the recently-announced second casino license for the city. Wynn was instrumental in the revitalization of the Las Vegas Strip in the early 90s, having built Bellagio, The Mirage, and Wynn Las Vegas.
Since Bart Blatstein brazenly threw himself a party announcing his plans for the former Philadelphia Inquirer building, a bunch of people have stepped forward to compete for that license, and Wynn has to be his biggest competition.
In addition to Wynn and Blatstein, the other groups competing for the license are The Goldenberg Group, Parkway Corporation, and Cordish Cos. U.S. Rep Bob Brady thinks the city should build one on its own. This situation is going to get a lot more dramatic before we have some real answers, so stay tuned.
