We've just received confirmation that Stephen Starr has been holding R&D taste-testing at the space that once housed Tangerine over the last week or so. We hear that Shane Solomon—the company's reigning pizzaiolo at Pizzeria Stella—has been integral to these gatherings, which would indicate some Italian-flavored leanings.
We ran into Solomon at his doughy home on Headhouse Square to see if he would chat about the tastings, but all Solomon would confirm was that he was there and nothing more. We even tried to ply him with a slice of our Tartufo pizza for information, but failed quite miserably. Representatives for SRO told us that "Stephen does tastings all the time," but that still doesn't answer the question. Will Tangerine soon become the red sauce joint Starr seemed so excited by when when we interviewed him last month?
