We've just got word that there are just a few tickets left for today's Philly Cooks competition taking place at the 33rd Street Armory at 6:30 PM. While we don't usually promote party/gathering-type deals, Philly Cooks raises money for the Ronald McDonald House, which provides a home for kids with life-threatening illness that are being treated at local hospitals.
Tickets are $75 and can be purchased online, which includes an all-you-can-eat-and-drink bonanza with some of the best chefs in town. Eater's Hottest Chef of 2012, Jason Cichonski (Ela) will be there, as well as Brad Spence (Amis), Evan Turney (Varga Bar), George Sabatino (Stateside), Jeremy Nolen (Brauhaus Schmitz), Robert Aikens (The Dandelion), Michael Schulson (Sampan), Sylvan Senat (Tashan), and many others. Beer and wine will be flowing as well.
There's some competition for the chefs tonight, too, as a panel of professional eaters will be judging the food and naming the best plates of the night in an awards ceremony. Last year's winners were Chip Roman of Blackfish, Dionicio Jimenez of El Rey, and Stephen Calise of Harvest. So, if you find yourself with some tax refnd money and want to hang out with some cheffy talent, here's your chance. Wednesday is the new Friday, after all.
