Katie Loeb Goes Farm-to-Shaker in New Book

While some local mixologists make headlines for quitting their jobs, bartender Katie Loeb of Tapestry does so by quietly writing a whole cocktail book that drops later this summer. Titled Shake, Stir, Pour, Loeb's tome focuses on the concept of using farm fresh ingredients to make infused liquors, spirits, and bitters at home. If you've ever sampled any of Loeb's drinks, her specialty is most-definitely the proprietary mixes and bitters that seem to follow her career around the city.

As an added bonus, Iron Chef Jose Garces, who was once Loeb's boss, wrote the foreword. The book drops on July 1, and is priced at $23 on Amazon.com.

Loeb, who calls herself the "spiritual advisor" of Tapestry, is a no-nonsense kinda gal that has eschewed the superstar status so many mixologists have been chasing as the cocktail scene grows in Philly. It's quite refreshing. Congrats, Katie.
