The Blue Bear Tavern re-opened as The Boilermaker over the weekend. Last weeks rumor about The Farmer's Cabinet crew taking over the space turned out to be true, and they've already got the place up and running. The 150-seat space now features a 40-tap system, up from the previous 12. The decor is being called medieval with gothic accents and lots of candelight. The downstairs draft system features 28 rotating brews, and the upstairs boasts 12 local beers that will stay on consistently. The upstairs bar also goes heavy on the cocktails, with two American favorites—Cobblers and Sazeracs—being the main attraction. As the name would imply, they're also going to have a menu of boilermaker drinks (shot and a beer), as well.
Chef Steve Forte is taking the reins at The Boilermaker, and is focusing on hearty, meaty fare, including rotisserie chickens, hand-carved roasts, and from what we hear, giant turkey legs. The Boilermaker is open every day from 3PM-2AM, with food being served until 1:30AM. Live music will be part of the show, too, and be heavy on old school blues.
