Most Intense Food Porn Ever Hits Philly Theaters

While the term "food porn" is almost as overused and eye roll-inducing as "foodie," there's no better way to describe Jiro Dreams of Sushi, the new documentary from David Gelb about 85-year-old sushi master Jiro Ono. The doc follows the life, meals, and day-to-day of the crew at Sukiyabashi Ono, the three Michelin starred-restaurant in Japan, starring the soulful and meticulous Ono. Expect lots of fish being placed on boards, dripping with oils and savory deliciousness.

If Ono looks familiar, it's because he did a spot with Anthony Bourdain on No Reservations in the past. All Jiro did for us, though, was add incentive to get our asses on a plane to Tokyo somehow. Either way, Jiro is a refreshing turn as a celebration of food, which is polar opposite to the recent educational gag-fests our industry is churning out like Food, Inc. and Supersize Me.

The movie opens at The Ritz in Philly on March 23.
