Stephen Simons, (The Khyber Pass Pub, Cantina Los Caballitos) owner of the upcoming Royal Izakaya checked in with Eater Philly today to let us know that the place we featured this morning in Old City was not the space he took for the new venture. Instead, he said it will be landing at 780 S. 2nd Street in Queen Village.
Chef Todd Dae Kulper put on a preview of the Royal Izakaya at The Khyber last year, and it drew a ridiculous crowd and almost three hour waits. The big attraction was ramen, as it has been the hot dish for the food-obsessed in Philly the last year or so.
As for the timeline, Simons said "We will open ten weeks after the city approves our plans." As soon as Philly gives the thumbs up, we'll let you know, and the countdown can begin.
