In what will surely be the coolest secret event this summer, Eater Philly just got word that Dîner en Blanc is landing in Philly this year. For those not in the know, Dîner en Blanc is a flash-mob-meets-pop-up dinner, where everyone wears white and brings a picnic dinner to a secret outdoor location that is only divulged to ticket holders just a few hours before the event. No food or drink are provided, just a table reserved via online ordering.
The concept began in the late 1980s in Paris for a few friends that wanted to be able to pick one another out of the crowd to meet up for lunch (by wearing all white), and grew into a huge event that supports itself through word of mouth. The first American version took place in NYC last year, and turned into an epic shitshow of planning and execution failures. This time around, we're sure they will be prepared for the onslaught. I guess it's not always best to be first.
More details on how to get on the list coming shortly.
