A new ownership group has purchased the giant, dangerous eyesore on the northeast corner of 6th and Bainbridge Streets, and is turning it into the Bainbridge Street Barrel House. The building is currently going through intense demolition, and is no longer home to vagrants and stray meth addicts.
The three-story structure will contain brand new apartments on the top two floors, and the massive ground floor will be the new home of the Barrel House. Architects on the project have said they are knocking out the entire wall that faces Bainbridge, and are installing giant windows to bring in natural light. Outdoor seating is in the works, too.
Plans for the Barrel House include a 30-tap system for craft brews, as the name of the new project references the barreling process associated with beer, whiskey, and wine. Labor Day weekend is the target date for opening, but as with any project of this magnitude, these dates can be quite fluid.
