Billy Curry, owner of the 35-year-old Copabanana, is opening Redwood right next door to his margarita mecca on South Street. While Curry has nothing but love for the Copa and its long-time regulars, he said that he has recently been "feeling oddly unsatisfied," which inspired him to do something a little more high-end.
Curry is partnering up with his nephew Dan Christensen on the new project, which will focus on craft beer, wine, and whiskey. The design of the space is going for a more sophisticated "Frank Lloyd Wright" vibe than it's brightly-colored sister. Diners can expect a bistro-centric menu, and a massive Cruvinet system that will host 24 wines by the glass. Opening is set for late Spring.
Sounds like a great way to turn South Street back into a destination for the food set, which left quite a long time ago.
