Le Virtù on East Passyunk Avenue has had quite a run since bringing on Chef Joe Cicala in 2010. They've quickly risen to the top of the heap as not only one of the best Italian restaurants in Philly, but one of the best places to eat, period. Chef Cicala has a deft hand with charcuterie, and a deep knowledge of the more unique dishes from the Abbruzo region.
Today, he's released his new Spring menu, and is running specials with seasonal bounty like ramps, morels, and fava beans. Cicala's favorite dishes on the new menu include the Le Virtù soup, which is a take on the traditional miestrone; cacio e uova, which are cheese and braised egg croquettes;, and the 9-month house-cured culatello and Pugliese.
