Atlanta-based Southwest/Mexican chain Taqueria del Sol is entering the Philadelphia market this year. Franchisee Christopher Blythe told Eater that Philly should see three locations open by the fourth quarter of 2012 in Willow Grove, Delaware County, and Center City.

"The Willow Grove spot is close to the Lowe's on Welsh Road, the Delaware County outpost is going to be where U.S. 1 and 320 meet (Marple Crossroads Shopping Center is there), and we're looking at a spot on Chestnut Street in downtown Philadelphia, too," said Blythe. "Hopefully all three will be open by the end of the year."

Taqueria del Sol has a cult-like following down south because of high-quality ingredients and a creative menu, even though they're considered a chain. The restaurant group, founded by Mike Klank and Eddie Hernandez in 2000, has been nominated for multiple James Beard Awards, and was named the Top American Restaurant in 2007 by Bon Appétit magazine.
