The beer culture in Philadelphia is unmatched anywhere on the East Coast, and now there's a red carpet gala to honor the best in the business at World Cafe Live on May 22nd. Local publication Philly Beer Scene has put together a celebration of the product and the people involved in the business, complete with awards statues and paparazzi. For those folks not employed in the beer industry, tickets are available online for $15.

The evening's emcee will be Joe Gunn, the writer of the popular "I On Beer" column in Philly Beer Scene, host of variety show Late Night with Joe Gunn, and the co-owner of Jose Pistolas in Center City. There will be beer, of course, with five tap handles being given to the nominees of Best Brewery of the Year (Flying Fish, Troeg's, Victory, Weyerbacher, and Yards), and five firkins, each filled with beer brewed by the nominees up for Best Brewmaster of the Year (Casey Hughes of Flying Fish, Chris LaPierre of Iron Hill, Chris Wilson of Weyerbacher, Gordon Grubb of Nodding Head, and Tim Roberts of Yards).

You can still enter votes for your favorite beers, breweries, and bars at the website dedicated to the 2012 Philly Beer Scene Awards. Congratulations to all the nominees!
