Chef Greg Vernick is opening his namesake restaurant, Vernick Food & Drink, on May 1st at 2031 Walnut Street. Vernick—who spent five years working for the legendary Jean-Georges Vongerichten, as well as time spent at Tocqueville in NYC—is going for a modern-meets-rustic vibe at his new bi-level eatery.
Grub Street got a hold of the opening menu, which features some very- Jean-George-esque simplistic dishes, like fromage blanc and ramps on toast, beef tartare with horseradish, and braised beef cheeks with spring beans. The front bar is a slate and stained monster with 10 seats that will serve housemade sodas, cocktails, local and craft beers, and an affordably priced selection of wines by the glass, of course.
