BlueCat has opened in the Fairmount neighborhood, headed up by industry vets Guy Shapiro and Luli Canuso. Focused on Latin flavors like arroz con pollo and oxtail, BlueCat is an affordable BYOB in a neighborhood that could use a little more restaurant foot traffic, and has recently seen the openings of Hickory Lane and La Calaca Feliz. Named for the Russian blue, BlueCat sports a huge mural of their favorite feline on the wall, as well as tons of natural light thanks to large front windows.
Shapiro spent many years with the Toscana Restaurant Group and Wildflower, and Canuso worked for Georges Perrier as pastry chef at Le Bec-Fin. The pair met at the former Mirabelle on Callowhill, which now houses The Kite and Key.
BlueCat is open for dinner and lunch Tuesday through Sunday (brunch on weekends).
