Popular vegan caterer Rachel Klein (better known as Miss Rachel) is opening her own cafe on June 4. The cafe's operating hours are Monday through Saturday, from 8 a.m. 'til 3 p.m., Miss Rachel's Cafe will serve vegan pastries, ice cream, smoothies, coffee and savory bites.
After the sun goes down (on Friday and Saturday only), Miss Rachel's Cafe will become The Dining Room, and chef Klein will serve a four-course vegan pre-fixe menu for up to 12 guests at the space’s cozy communal farmhouse table. The tasting will begin at 7 p.m., and requires a reservation. June 8 marks the first available reservation for The Dining Room, which can be made by calling the restaurant at 215-798-0053.
Chef Klein’s pre-fixe menus will change weekly; each will include four courses, with two options for each course, one of which is gluten free. Some of the dishes you'll find on the menu include :sweet potato knishes with caramelized onions and crispy sage; shiitake mushroom dumpling soup with spicy basil-lemongrass broth; “buttermilk” baked seitan with whipped Yukon gold potatoes, slow-simmered collards and home-style gravy.
