Everyone is loving Philly today. Mark Coates' Smoke Truck was named one of America's Pit Masters and Grill Geniuses by Food & Wine Magazine. Coates, who specializes in Carolina-style barbecue is joined by famous spots Standard in Washington, D.C., Franklin Barbecue in Austin, TX, and Cathead's in San Francisco.
Coates, who has a cult-like following in Philly and has been name-dropped on food TV shows and national mags, is planning a series of underground pop-ups this summer in Philly called "Flesh Mobs." His trademark pulled pork sandwich is massive, and he loves to watch his customers "struggle with it." Congrats, Mark.
