Grub Street Philly is reporting that Top Chef Jen Carroll has put her upcoming restaurant, Concrete Blonde, on hold because of a tiny location issue. Basically, she doesn't have one yet. Carroll was in the final stages of snagging a lease when her investors got "cold feet" with the project.
Never fear, though, as Carroll said she already has new financial backers and are back to square one on the hunt for a location. But, she promised that the restaurant is definitely coming and "there's no giving up hope." Carroll had a preview tasting for the new project awhile back, and reports pointed to some really fantastic dishes and a bright future for Concrete Blonde.
Emails asking when Carroll is opening her restaurant make up a large chunk of the correspondence in our inbox, so the sooner her team gets this thing going the better. Carroll hasn't been sitting on her laurels in the meantime, though, with a new show coming up on Bravo, and she was in Aspen at the Food & Wine Classic last weekend.
