Nick's Roast Beef in Old City is changing hands, but not staying closed for long. The Insider is reporting that longtime bartender Joey Schultice has taken over the spot from John Gonnella and Jack Calhoun, who owned the bar for 25 years. Schultice is doing some renovations to the bar, but will keep the menu largely the same. The grand re-opening is taking place tomorrow on June 8.
The few changes he is making, though, is to up the quality of ingredients in the dishes coming out of the kitchen, including buying his steaks from Giordano's in the Italian Market. The upstairs lounge, which was once 32 Degrees, is also done and looking for a new operator. That is, if Schultice decides to pass on the deal.
