Last night, Top Chef Jen Carroll appeared before the Community Board and won initial approval for her now very real NYC restaurant at 33 Greenwich Avenue. During her pitch, Carroll made her intentions clear, and showed plans for a white tablecloth seafood-focused restaurant. Eater's informant noted that Carroll's drawings looked very design-heavy, and could be the beginnings of a visually memorable space.
Carroll did hit some resistance when she said that closing time would be around 2 a.m. to encourage industry types to stop by for late-night drinks, but ultimately agreed to cut the hours back to a midnight lockup during the week, and 1 a.m. on weekends. Eater is very happy that things are moving along for homegirl Jen Carroll, we just wish it could have been here.
