White-Hot NYC Coffee Shop Joe Opening Philly Locations

New, 5 comments

joephillylogo.jpgJoe, Eater NY's pick for best-all around coffee shop, is opening two Philly locations in the near future.

The New York Times is reporting that owners Jonathan and Gabrielle Rubenstein are opening a 1,200-square foot spot at 1845 Walnut Street early next year, and another on Drexel University's campus later in 2013.

While Joe is planning on roasting their own beans in the near future, right now most of their coffee comes from Intelligentsia and Tea and Ecco Caffé.

Rubenstein said that within 15 minutes of seeing the space, he was ready to pull the trigger on opening a Philly outpost of Joe, as the outpost he's opening here is twice as big as any of the 9 shops they have in NYC. "It’s such a different feel," he said. "You salivate about that much space, and that outdoor seating is unheard of when you're in a nickle-and-dime market like New York."
