Chef Peter Gilmore has closed his critically-acclaimed French restaurant, Gilmore, after a very successful 11-year run. Gilmore opened his restaurant in 2001, after more than twenty years slinging hash at Philly's legendary Le Bec-Fin as chef de cuisine under Georges Perrier.
The restaurant closed last Sunday, July 15, after a big crabfest and a completely packed house. Gilmore has said that he's not sure what his next steps will be, but he's "tired of doing 16 hour days at the stove."
While the restaurant landscape is losing a legend, chef Gilmore has left an indelible mark on our dining scene. Happy trails, Peter.
