Gene Giuffi is just about ready to open his BBQ joint, Blue Belly BBQ, across the street from his popular pig-based BYOB, Cochon. Giuffi told Eater he's not going for by-the-numbers authenticity, and is just making the kind of BBQ he wants to eat. The menu is broken down into three sections: sandwiches, smoked meats, and sides. Sandwich platters come with cole slaw and one side, and smoked platters come with three sides of your choice.

The building was once Mike Stollenwerk's Little Fish, and was later earmarked for Tyson Wong Ophaso's Eat Thai, which never materialized. The facade has been painted a soft baby blue, and Giuffi is hoping he can add some outdoor seats. The shop will launch with 17 seats inside, including 5 at a counter. Blue Belly will be open from 11 a.m. until 7 p.m. daily.
