Cupcake Lady Kate Carrara is opening a storefront in Pennsport this fall. Carrara, who also owns the mobile cupcake truck Buttercream, has taken over 2015 East Moyamensing Avenue, and will be using it as a commissary and a cafe in September. Carrara is keeping the Buttercream name for the storefront, which was previously Venice Cafe, and before that, BYOB Nicholas.

"We're going to offer cupcakes, but a bunch of other baked goods, as well," Carrara told Eater. "I make a mean cornbread and biscuits, so those will be on the menu, for sure. Also, we're going to offer French press coffee and a deep selection of teas."

Carrara was recently in talks with The Food Network about a TV show, but it never materialized. "You start to realize they're going to have all of these cameras in your face, and it gets overwhelming," Carrara said. "So, it put a lot of stuff on hold, but now it's time to move on to the next step, which is the storefront. I absolutely love the neighborhood and can't wait to be a part of it."
