Le Bec Fin, which recently re-opened under the watchful eye of owner Nicolas Fanucci and chef Walter Abrams, just received their first review and it was a good one. Trey Popp, hater-extraordinaire for Philly Mag, said that while his previous visits to the Philly institution weren't so hot, the new crew has a bright future at 1523 Walnut Street.
"There are glimmers of a new and compelling culture being born at Le Bec Fin. My final meal—but hopefully not my last one—ultimately left no question about where the money had gone: to the unlikely sensation, for me, of feeling truly and fabulously rich."
With a restaurant like Le Bec Fin, you really want to experience what the hub-bub is all about, and it seems as though that's the case with the new regime. Popp does question what the real difference is between meals here and any other great Philly dining spot, and came up with "a view of chandeliers." Nonetheless, Popp enjoyed his food immensely, and gave the wine list props for great Burgundy values and legendary bottles. A great start for Fanucci & Co.
