The image above is a rendering of what the new Wursthaus Schmitz will look like when it opens next month in The Reading Terminal Market. Owner Doug Hager told Eater that the construction starts today, and should be complete in 30 days.
"We're going to be open about two weeks before Oktoberfest," Hager said. "And we're right next to the new Flying Monkey Pattiserie stand, so that should be a lot of fun."
Wursthaus Schmitz will be a full-service German market, with hot sandwiches, cold deli items, pretzels, and new menu items from chef Jeremy Nolen. Hager said they'll also have German cheeses, and a bunch of goods from Northeast Philly's famous market, Rieker's. Expect the launch of Wursthaus Schmitz to include a "Brauhausmobile" that will shuttle sausages and other goodies from the restaurant to the market throughout the day.
