After being put on the block for sale last month, Old City steakhouse Reserve is now closed. Calls to the restaurant haven't been returned, their OpenTable page is down, and, well, it just smells like a shutter. Foobooz is reporting the same stuff, and the PBJ says a former employee reported that an email was sent out last week saying the end was near.
In 2012, opening a non-franchise steakhouse is a serious gamble, and in Philly, even moreso. Unless you're an expense account-type or suburban richie-rich, it's not usually a first or second choice. And for most of the food-obsessed, a run-of-the-mill beef joint just isn't cutting edge, and worth your hard-earned dollars.
