Chef Rich Landau Cooked for Bill Clinton This Morning

Rich Landau of Vedge cooked for former President Bill Clinton this morning in NYC. Landau and his wife Kate Jacoby headed up on Amtrak to a private residence where he whipped up vegan goodies at a fundraiser hosted by Shelley Rubin, attended by the most famous vegan in the U.S. Almost as interesting as cooking for Clinton was who set Landau up with the gig.

"Stephen Starr called me last week and asked if I would be interested in doing the vegan part of the event," Landau told Eater. "I had no idea this was coming, but it was truly an honor."

Landau said he didn't get to chit chat with Clinton, but the dishes that were served all came off the menu at Vedge. And, of course, there were last minute troubles that turned the experience into a Top Chef challenge.

"When we arrived to set up, they told us that a good portion of the food we had prepped at Vedge was forgotten in Philly, and we needed to rush to get it all done," Landau said. "But, we got it done with like 10 minutes to spare. All that stress was surely worth it, though."
