The Shutter

dambrosiothumbshot.jpgIn truly sad news, it looks like the 75-year-old D'Ambrosio Bakery is shutting down for good. A deal was in place to sell the Grays Ferry-based company today, but it appears as though it fell through, leaving 60 employees without a job today. The original owners sold the business in 2005 to Gatehouse Ventures, who had a plan to buy up a portfolio of of local bakeries. Hopefully something gets worked out, and the carbos will continue to roll off the line. [Philly.com]
