The second Philly outpost of Shake Shack opens today at 11 a.m. at 3200 Chestnut Street, and the line was already quite long as was expected. Even though Philly has had the Shake Shack brand for awhile now, today's launch was met with the same enthusiasm we had when Danny Meyer cut the ribbon on his first local spot last year.
This Shake Shack will mainly serve the Drexel and UPenn crowd, and offers seating for 100 burgerphiles in the beautiful bi-level space, where the wood is made from reclaimed bowling alley lanes imported from Brooklyn, NY. The UCity outpost also offers up outdoor seating, which is a first for Philly Shake Shacks, and the interior is painted royal blue (as opposed to the traditional green) in a nod to Drexel University where the storefront resides.
