Starting right after Thanksgiving, the Blue Cross RiverRink will become a pop-up holiday village called the Waterfront Winterfest. Having no affiliation or connection to the German Village that sets up shop at Love Park, the Waterfront Winterfest will operate until the big ball drops on New Year's Day. The project is being designed by David Fieraband of Groundswell Design, and includes a 400 person warming tent created from recycled shipping containers framed by a garden oasis of pine trees, fire pits, and the ice skating rink.

The most interesting part of the project is the pop-up restaurant that will be the centerpiece of the pop-up village, which will be operated by Four Corners Management (Drinker's, Morgan's Pier, Union Transfer). Crticially acclaimed Philadelphia chef George Sabatino will be the executive chef of the restaurant, and he will be serving a new take on winter favorites. Stay tuned.
