Chef Nick Farina, chef-owner of Bryn Mawr's Verdad, just cut the ribbon on Union Taco, his shiny new 20-seat taqueria located at 712 W. Girard Avenue. Farina's menu focuses on Mexican street food, and will be open for lunch and dinner seven days a week, and will stay open late nights on weekends.
The menu includes a half dozen soft tacos served on 6-inch housemade tortillas, tortas served on locally sourced rolls, Mexican flatbread pizzas, and churros. Some of the taco and torta options include pork carnitas, sliced Kobe beef, flash fried mahi-mahi, pork cheeks, and pulled chicken.
"I want Union Taco to feel like a taqueria located near San Diego," said Farina. "I describe the feel as 'where the gringo meets the street' where our guests can enjoy upscale Mexican cuisine made from incredibly flavorful seasonal ingredients at an affordable price." Union Taco will offer a variety of Mexican sodas, as well as artisan ingredients for specialty margaritas for guests who bring their own tequila.
