Brigantessa Coming to East Passyunk

The Insider reports that the much murmured-about second location from the owners of Le Virtu is now confirmed. The new restaurant is called Brigantessa, and it's moving into 1520 E. Passyunk Ave, which is currently Karina's. Karina's, meanwhile, will remain open at least until February, with hopes to find a new home in the neighborhood. The projected opening date for Brigantessa is sometime in July of 2014.

Klein reports that the menu will draw influences far more wide-ranging than Le Virtu, to serve specialties from all over southern Italy. As chef Joe Cicala has previously hinted at on Twitter, there will be lots of wood-fired choices including Neapolitan pizza and a more casual, rustic vibe, plus a pretty substantial beer program—a projected 15 to 20 taps.
