The mega-opulent steakhouse, Union Trust, was shuttered for good at the end of 2012, and now it looks like there are some serious structural problems with the gorgeous architectural landmark that is more than 100 years old. While the building has suffered from internal plumbing issues for quite some time, the facade is now crumbling on to Chestnut Street, and it could end up as a pile of rubble if it isn't fixed by early March.
The city has attached one of those bright orange "you better fix this" labels to UT that said if it isn't repaired by March 6, the city will have the right to demolish the building. While there's a chance someone will come up with the money to fix the problem, it's still feasible that we could see the destruction of a true architectural landmark in the next few months.
Stay tuned.
