Executive chef Walter Abrams has been let go by Nicolas Fanucci & Co. at Le Bec Fin 2.0. Abrams worked with Fanucci and the Thomas Keller Restaurant Group on the other coast, which led to their partnership in this project. Once word leaked out that Fanucci was going to be buying Philly's most-famous restaurant from Georges Perrier, the guessing game of who would be head chef became everyone's favorite pasttime, and Abrams was a big-time curveball.
LBF 2.0 struggled out of the gate, and things didn't pick up after a few months. Recently, Georges Perrier's name was taken off the downstairs bar, too. Things don't look so great at 1523 Walnut Street right now.
Stay tuned.
