It seems like forever ago that Matyson chef Ben Puchowitz and partner Shawn Darragh announced that they were working on a noodle shop. Today, all that chatter becomes reality as they open the doors on Cheu Noodle Bar at 255 S. 10th Street, at 3 p.m. After a very successful series of pop-ups over the last year, Puchowitz and Darragh realized that Philly was ripe and ready to support their vision of oodles of noodles from many different cuisines.
The menu is full of ramen, pho, brisket soups, and cold noodle dishes that should offer something for everyone. In addition to the starring bowls, the duo have added dishes of veggies, snacks, and goodies like a homemade version of local breakfast staple, scrapple.
The restaurant is BYOB for the first few days, as well as offering a line of Boylan's hand-crafted sodas, green tea, and juices. This place has a ridiculous amount of buzz behind it already, so expect most, if not all of the 32 seats to have people plopped in them if you're looking to visit soon. But, it's surely worth the wait.
