Gambling resort mogul Steve Wynn pitched his Wynn Philadelphia casino to the Fishtown Neighbors Association and came away with a surprisingly dominant win: 173 votes in favor and 55 against. The pitch didn't pass through without some critcism, though, as the normally vocal group expressed their distaste for the boring conceptual design, which resembles a "Hilton in Topeka."

While this thumbs up from the Neighborhood Association is certainly a good thing for Wynn's plans, it by no means clinches a victory in their quest for the city's other gaming license. You can bet that this positive response will be included in the final testimony presented to the Pennsylvania Gaming Control Board hearing later this week. As of right now, it appears that Wynn's proposal is leading the pack, and the other five operators need to up their game if they hope to compete for that lucrative license. Stay tuned.
