Two Revel Casino patrons turned up dead in their hotel rooms this past weekend after housekeeping found them during a routine room cleaning. The bodies of 56-year-old Vincent A. Iappelli, Jr. and 22-year-old Clarissa I. DelCollo have been identified, along with a substantial amount of narcotics, pointing to drug overdose as probable cause of death.
The Revel Casino opened up in Atlantic City last April to great fanfare, and an enormous amount of hope that it could reinvigorate the tanking local economy. Instead, it's had a run of pretty terrible luck that includes losses of $35 million in the 2nd quarter of 2012, $37 million in the 3rd quarter of 2012, and a $100 million bailout in late August of last year. That was followed up by a Chapter 11 bankruptcy filing on February 19, 2013.
