Inky critic Craig LaBan dropped 2 solid bells on Bar Ferdinand and the return of Philly BYOB visionary David Ansill. LaBan says Ansill/Bar Ferdinand is serious business now, and ready to take the next step in restaurant greatness. His true talent with offal and game meats is on full display, even if there were a few missteps along the way.

More interesting, though, was LaBan's reporting on Ansill's reason for returning to the U.S. Apparently, the Jamaican Tourist Board got on the Philly chef's case after a local blog ran a story that "made him sound like the Cheech Marin of chefs."

And, while it sucks that Ansill was forced to leave the beautiful Jamaican beach, we're thankful that he's back where he belongs. For more David Ansill coverage, check out our goodbye love letter to the crazy cook for some true verbal fellatio.
