Jose Garces' mobile taco operation, Guapos Tacos, has been renamed Distrito to align itself with The Iron Chef's Mexican restaurant. The soft opening happened last weekend at the PIFA Festival on Broad Street, and just made its national debut on VH1's Big Morning Buzz Live.
Garces' people say the truck has the same look and menu as Guapos Tacos, with the only change being the name of the operation. The timing couldn't be better, either, as DIstrito was just named one of the Best Mexican Restaurants in the U.S. by Travel + Leisure magazine. Everything is coming up Garces.
