Sichuan Master Han Chiang just told Eater that he is moving Han Dynasty out of his current Old City digs and into the giant space at 123 Chestnut Street, which was most recently Reserve Steakhouse. Chiang said his lease at 108 Chestnut Street is up in November, and he will move across the street immediately after throwing a massive going away party at his original Philly location.
"We'll do enough damage at the party so another Chinese restaurant can't move in," Chiang joked. "Seriously, though, we're going to celebrate the time we spent there, it's going to be great."
His local restaurant relocation isn't the only big news on the Han Dynasty front, either. Chiang recently signed a lease at 90 3rd Avenue in the East Village, and said he is opening his very first NYC outpost in July of this year.
"The construction is already underway, and we hope to be done by June, with a July opening to follow," Chiang said. "It's really exciting stuff." Chiang has some other big plans for national expansion on the horizon, but said he hasn't firmed anything up just yet. But, he promised that it would be a West Coast destination. Stay tuned.
