The last remaining outpost of Bonte Wafflerie, located at 922 Walnut Street, has finally called it quits. Restaurateur Brad Messinger opened the first Bonte in 2003, and expanded the brand to 17th Street, Walnut Street, and Temple U before selling it off to Kayur Popat, who couldn't keep the mini-chain open.

After Popat took over Bonte, the storefronts started dropping like flies without any new ones popping up to fill the void they left behind. Popat told The Insider that his poor health is the reason for shutting down, but the landlord of the property has filed a suit for $9,300 in back rent, which would make anyone sick.
