A Peek Inside Garage, Opening In A Few Short Days

Last year, restaurateur Jason Evenchik announced that he was taking over the former Satellite Auto Body at 1231 E. Passyunk Ave., and turning it into a new restaurant called Garage. After 18 long months of demolition and development, Garage is just a few days away from opening on EPX. The space has seats for 80 diners, and standing room for at least 20 more. There's skeeball, a pool table, and pinball on the premises, and there are sure to be other amusements in the future. Garage will be open from 5 p.m. until 2 a.m. daily.

The original culinary concept was to invite a roster of Philly food trucks inside the hangar-like structure, and have them appear on a rotating schedule throughout the season. But, after numerous setbacks with L&I, the city, and the former building owner, Evenchik and his partners—Josh McCullough, Terrance Leach, and Sal D'Amato—decided to simplify the setup. Now, Garage features a permanently-installed food cart inside the building, which will act as the kitchen for the rotating roster visiting chefs.

Make sure to keep an eye on the Garage Facebook page, as they'll be announcing the official launch date, as well as the schedule for the chef rotation. Stay tuned.
