Brauhaus Schmitz has announced that they've gotten rid of the traditional Bavarian dirndls (pictured at left) and are going with a more modern look (pictured at right). When owners Doug Hager and Kelly Schmitz first pitched the idea of their servers wearing dirndls prior to opening, there was resounding support for going traditional. Even though some wondered whether or not it would look too hokey, the decision to go pro-dirndl ended up being the right call.
While Hager and Schmitz have only made great decisions about the business since day one, we have to disagree with this one. The new look reminds us of the outfits the female servers wear at Talula's Garden mashed up with something Sandra Dee would rock in Grease.
In response to the Brauhaus Schmitz announcement, we're hosting a poll to see what you, our dear readers, think: Should they go back to the dirndl, or do you like the new look?
