Legendary Oven Builder Fires First Pizzeria Vetri Pie

As Pizzeria Vetri inches closer to their opening date of September 6, honcho Marc Vetri and his cohorts—Brad Spence and Jeff Michaud—are ironing out all of the last minute details, not the least of which is getting the massive oven ready to go. Vetri is a huge fan of Renato Ovens, and his pizzeria is rocking the biggest one they offer, the AR/700S, which has a diameter of 72" and weighs a staggering 8500 lbs.

To make sure everything is done just right, Vetri flew Renato Riccio—the brilliant designer and namesake of the company—in from Texas to calibrate the oven and fire test pizzas. Vetri tweeted out a pic of the living legend rolling out dough at Pizzeria Vetri before it heads into the fire. September 6 can't come fast enough.
